When to Use

If you need access to perform diagnostics or file recovery and need access to the NTFS pooled files that are stored on a drive that is part of the pool.

Warning

Normally you should not access your pooled files from the PoolPart folder that is located on a disk part of the pool.

Only use this as a means of diagnosing problems or performing recovery.

Access your pooled files from the pool drive letter.

Steps

  1. Follow: Q7200705
  2. From the Start menu open Folder Options (type it).
  3. Select the View tab.
  4. Under Hidden files and folders select Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the root directory of any drive that is (or was) part of the pool.
  7. Enter the folder that starts with the name PoolPart....

You will find your pooled files in this folder, in the same directory structure as they exist on the pool.

The pool simply is a combined view of all of these pool part folders which are located on each disk that is part of the pool.
